Armenian Lentil and Rice Soup

  • Red lentils 4 tablespoons
  • Rice 4 tablespoons
  • Onions 2 pieces
  • Vegetable oil 2 tablespoons
  • Raisins 0.5 cups
  • Peeled walnuts 0.5 cups
  • Black peppercorns 6 pieces
  • Parsley sprigs 2-3 pieces
  • Bunch of cilantro 1 piece
  • Salt (to taste) 1 piece
armyanskii_sup_vospnapur-3410.jpgThoroughly rinse the lentils and rice under warm water. In a pot, bring 1.5 liters of water to a boil, add salt, then pour in the lentils and rice. Bring to a second boil, reduce the heat and cook for 7 minutes.
armyanskii_sup_vospnapur-3411.jpgPeel the onion and slice it into half-rings. Rinse the raisins. Chop the walnuts finely. In a frying pan, heat vegetable oil and sauté the onion until golden, about 4 minutes. Add the sautéed onion, raisins, and nuts to the pot. Cook for another 5 minutes.
